Floral Design and Flower Show Committee

This committee promotes interest and educates members of the Lenox Garden Club, regardless of their expertise, in the art of floral design. Its purpose is to encourage all Club members to participate in floral design activities, to enhance the quality of the Floral Design Division in all flower shows, and to share the beauty and artistry of this discipline. The Chair arranges one floral design meeting a year in cooperation with the Program Chair. This committee organizes Club flower shows and GCA flower shows, notifies members of upcoming local and regional flower shows, and encourages participation in these shows.

Judging

The duties of the subcommittee for all flower show divisions are to invite judges and clerks to serve in shows. The committee sets up judging panels, sends out schedules and other necessary information, provides appropriate hospitality, and thanks the judges and clerks. The Garden Club of America Flower Show and Judging Guide rules and guidelines shall apply to all major Club flower shows.

GCA Judges Demonstration & Discussion (Flower Committee Program)

Are you looking to elevate your floral design skills—or curious about what goes on behind the scenes of a judged flower show? We have an extraordinary opportunity you won’t want to miss.

By popular demand, the Flower Committee is thrilled to invite the entire club to a special in-depth demonstration featuring two of the most esteemed GCA Judges in our region: Carla Morey and Kathy Michie.

• Date: Thursday, February 12, 2026

• Time: 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM

• Location: Kitchen Classroom, Center House Building, Berkshire Botanical Garden

RSVP: Please email Kathleen Zutter at zutterkathleen@gmail.com to secure your spot.

Why You Should Attend

This isn’t just a demonstration—it’s a masterclass in creativity and strategy. Carla and Kathy will live-construct three distinct floral designs specifically tailored to the upcoming LGC Annual Meeting Flower Show in June.

During this interactive session, you will:

  •  See real-life examples of floral designs that conform to our June show schedule.
  • Learn the “Why”: Hear how judges apply the GCA elements and principles of art when evaluating designs.
  • Ask the Experts: Engage in live dialogue about what makes a blue-ribbon arrangement.

We hope you’ll join us for this inspiring and informative event.
